Chiron & Healing

Throughout this Web site project, we have seen how the Chiron archetype has manifested itself at this time in our history to coincide with the coming of age of alternative, holistic health fields – and in particular how we can address the "ancient wound" through bodywork, acupressure and and other touch therapies.

There are many forms of "energy work" available to the bodyworker. In hands-on modalities such as Reiki, we may connect ourselves to a universal energy source, perhaps tapping into the ancient wound archetype – and by channeling this healing energy, help to facilitate a clearing of personal wounds for both receiver and practitioner.

As to whether I consider myself a "healer" or not... I feel we are all healers. Perhaps the whole process of life is a healing. I can lay my hands on someone. Is that healing? Perhaps it is, for both of us. To be a "healer" implies that I "do something to" the client. Perhaps the connection between the practitioner and the recipient itself is a "state of healing", a process, a connection of the universal to the personal. Some of the most profound healing may happen when no one is aware that anything is being done.

Those of us in the field can call ourselves massage therapists, bodyworkers, acupressure specialists, Reiki masters, energy workers or anything else we like. Healing is not about semantics. Perhaps it takes place on many levels, both seen and unseen. In any case, I choose to be a willing participant.
